The Essex Yeomanry Band was formed in 1902 and was formally part of the establishment until the Regiment was placed into suspended animation in 1967.  From that point it has existed as an independent organisation but continues to wear the uniforms of the Regiment.

There has been an affiliated Cadet unit from 1949 (the 6th Essex (EY) Cadet Regiment.)  The affiliation continues today through B (EY) Company Essex ACF.

In both cases the units have worn the same Gunner and then Signals badges as the Regiment / Squadron, with just a few variations:
